We are looking for a senior professional for the role of Head Designer – Buyer – Merchandising & Product Development.
This role will handle design, buying, merchandising, and PD for Women, Men, and Kids categories. The position requires strong leadership, product sense, and commercial understanding to drive category growth and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Product Development (PD)
- Lead design and product development for Women, Men, and Kids
- Create seasonal themes, collections, color palettes, and styles
- Ensure designs are commercial, trend-aligned, and cost-effective
- Approve samples, fits, and final styles before production
Buying (Buyer Role)
- Plan and execute buying strategies as per budget and sales plan
- Finalize vendor selection, product costing, and negotiations
- Ensure best price, quality, and timelines from suppliers
- Manage buying calendar and ensure on-time deliveries
Merchandising
- Develop category-wise range planning and assortment mix
- Ensure correct pricing, margin, and quantity planning
- Track sales performance, stock movement, and sell-through
- Take corrective actions for slow-moving products
Business & Team Management
- Work closely with planning, sourcing, quality, supply chain, and retail teams
- Lead and mentor designers, buyers, merchandisers, and PD teams
- Support management in achieving sales, margin, and inventory targets
Software & System Knowledge
- Strong working knowledge of MS Excel
- Experience in PLM / ERP systems (SAP preferred)
- Knowledge of design software like CorelDraw / Adobe Illustrator (preferred)
Experience & Qualification
- 10+ years of experience in Buying, Merchandising, Design, or Product Development
- Experience in value fashion / mass retail is preferred
- Strong exposure to Women, Men, and Kids categories
- Experience in handling end-to-end category responsibility
