Position Overview
We are looking for a skilled SQL Database Administrator (DBA) with 5+ years of hands-on experience to manage, maintain, and optimize our on-site database systems. The DBA will be responsible for ensuring high availability, security, and performance of databases that support business-critical applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases (on-premise).
- Monitor database performance, implement tuning strategies, and troubleshoot performance issues.
- Perform backup, recovery, disaster recovery planning, and high availability setup.
- Manage database security, access controls, and compliance with organizational policies.
- Plan and implement database upgrades, migrations, and patch management.
- Develop and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, and indexes.
- Support developers in database design, query optimization, and performance tuning.
- Proactively monitor system health, performance, and capacity planning.
- Document processes, standards, and database configurations.
- Provide on-call support for database-related issues.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong experience with MS SQL Server (2016/2019/2022) administration.
- Expertise in performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing strategies.
- Proficiency in backup/recovery tools, clustering, replication, Always On Availability Groups.
- Good knowledge of T-SQL, SSIS, SSRS, and SQL Agent jobs.
- Familiarity with security and compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, ISO, SOX).
- Experience with database monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Redgate, SentryOne).
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently in an on-site environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience as a SQL DBA (on-premise environment).
- Hands-on experience in enterprise-level database management.
- Certifications like Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or MCSE: Data Management are a plus.
