About the Role

We are seeking an experienced, process-driven Warehouse Head to lead end-to-end Distribution Centre (DC) operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing inbound and outbound execution, inventory accuracy, people productivity, WMS discipline, safety/compliance, and cost controls. This role is critical to ensuring high service levels to stores/customers through strong planning, governance, and continuous process improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Own complete DC operations including inbound receiving, putaway, storage, replenishment, picking, packing, dispatch, and returns processing
  • Plan daily/weekly workloads and ensure manpower deployment, shift planning, and productivity tracking across all warehouse functions
  • Drive inventory accuracy through cycle counts, audits, bin discipline, stock reconciliation, and shrinkage  control
  • Ensure strict adherence to WMS processes (receiving, location management, picking waves, dispatch scanning) and resolve system/process deviations
  • Monitor SLA/TAT performance for store dispatches and customer orders; identify bottlenecks and implement corrective actions
  • Control warehouse costs (manpower, consumables, MHE, utilities) and publish daily/weekly/monthly operational MIS (productivity, losses, fill-rate, aging, damages)
  • Manage and develop warehouse teams including supervisors; ensure training, performance reviews, and strong shopfloor discipline
  • Oversee vendor/contractor operations (loading/unloading, housekeeping, packaging) and ensure SLA compliance and service quality
  • Ensure warehouse infrastructure readiness: layout optimization, space utilization, racking, MHE uptime, and 5S implementation
  • Own safety, security, and statutory compliance: fire safety, EHS practices, PPE usage, incident reporting, and regulatory readiness during audits/inspections
  • Coordinate with Transport/Delivery teams for vehicle planning, dispatch scheduling, documentation, and adherence to loading norms
  • Drive continuous improvement using lean practices to improve throughput, reduce errors, improve pick accuracy, and lower turnaround time

 

Qualifications

Graduate/Postgraduate with 10–15 years of experience in warehouse/DC operations (retail/e-commerce preferred)

 

Required Skills

  • Strong hands-on knowledge of WMS and warehouse processes (inbound, outbound, inventory control, returns)
  • Proven experience managing large manpower (including contract labour), productivity, and shift operations
  • Strong command on inventory accuracy, cycle counting, shrinkage control, and audit readiness
  • Working knowledge of EHS, fire safety, and statutory compliance requirements applicable to warehouses
  • Excellent planning, stakeholder coordination (stores, transport, finance, planning), and people leadership skills
  • Proficient in MS Excel/Google Sheets and MIS reporting; comfortable using dashboards/metrics to drive performance
